Houghton Main F.C. is an English football club based in Little Houghton, Barnsley, South Yorkshire. They play in the Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League Premier Division, the 11th tier of the English football league system. ==History== The club was formed as Darfield St. George's, and competed in the FA Cup under that name in 1919. The following summer they changed their name to Houghton Main and reached the 3rd Qualifying Round of the cup before winning the Yorkshire League in their debut campaign in the competition.〔(Houghton Main ) Football Club History Database〕 The club joined the Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League (S&HCSL) in 2003, and after winning two successive promotions reached the S&HCSL's top flight. They were relegated back to Division One in 2007 but won promotion back at the first attempt. They resigned from the league in 2009 but rejoined a year later, again securing back-to-back promotions to work their way back up to the Premier Division.
